World Stroke Day takes place on October 29th every year and aims to raise awareness of stroke risks and prevention. Stroke is the second most common cause of death globally. In Hong Kong, nearly three thousand people die of stroke each year: there are 15,000 stroke patients in Hong Kong and the number is increasing. The prevalence of stroke is also increasing among the younger population. To reduce the risk of stroke, there is a need to raise awareness and share information about prevention and treatment.
Always remember and share knowledge about “F A S T”! Be aware of the golden period of 3-4.5 hours for treating stroke!
